Home sales in South Central Kansas fell by 14.6% in June compared to the prior year. Sales in June 2024 totaled 873 units, down from 1,022 in 2023.

Among existing homes, 784 units sold in June, a decrease of 12.9% from 900 units that sold in 2023. The average sale price of existing hom0es was $262,987. This represents an increase of 6.9% from the June 2023 average price of $245,966.

For new construction, 89 sales occurred in June, down from 122 units the prior year, a decrease of 27.0%. The average sale price of new homes in June was $386,747, down 0.2% from the same period last year.

A total of 862 contracts for sale were written in June 2024, down from 973 in June 2023. This is a decrease of 11.4%. Contracts written during the month reflect, in part, sales that are set to close in the near future.

The inventory of active listings in South Central Kansas stood at 1,621 units at the end of June, which is up from 1,222 homes that were on the market at the end of June last year. At the current rate of sales, this figure represents 2.1 months' supply of homes on the market.
